Description
  • According to the Global Terrorism Index, deaths from terrorism in Nigeria dropped 80% in 2016.
  • More than a million displaced persons have returned to their homes and communities across the Northeast, since 2015.
  • Capture of Boko Haram’s operational and spiritual headquarters, “Camp Zero”, in Sambisa Forest, in December 2016. As a result, commercial, religious and other activities resumed in the region.
  • More than 13,000 hostages have been freed from Boko Haram captivity including but not limited to substantial numbers of the Chibok girls and Dapchi girls
  • Abuja has become relatively safe compared to the bombings that occurred before 2015 involving the UN building, Police Headquarters, EMAB Plaza, Nyanya and the regular Sunday- Sunday bombings of churches and mosques in the North.
